10.09.2026.

This volume marks the 18th edition of the proceedings from the International Scientific Conference "Contemporary Materials 2025", which took place on 11–12 September 2025. In alignment with its core mission, the Academy of Sciences and Arts of the Republic of Srpska has successfully sustained the continuity and longstanding tradition of organizing this scientific forum. Covering all domains of advanced materials, this volume compiles a selected number of papers presented during the conference.

The critical relevance of this subject to contemporary society is reflected in the extensive interest shown by scientists and researchers globally. Their research finds direct application across diverse sectors—from engineering to biomedicine—making it an integral part of daily life worldwide. In the technical sphere, this encompasses renewable energy, power systems, electrical and mechanical engineering, transportation, civil engineering, industrial technology, and information and communication technologies. Within biomedicine, it spans medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy. The ongoing evolution within these disciplines reflects the translation of fundamental scientific breakthroughs into applied sciences. Furthermore, the significance of research into contemporary materials is underscored by its status as a strategic priority for developed nations globally. Accordingly, through the publication of this annual proceedings volume, the Academy of Sciences and Arts of the Republic of Srpska actively contributes to the advancement and promotion of contemporary materials and nanotechnologies, recognizing them as vital drivers of economic and social progress.

This volume consists of peerreviewed papers delivered at the 18th International Scientific Conference "Contemporary Materials", a portion of which has also been published in the scientific journal Contemporary Materials, issued by the Academy. The conference featured a total of 108 presentations, comprising eight plenary lectures and 100 poster presentations.Reflecting a highly collaborative research environment, the papers were coauthored by 271 investigators. Since research and development in this field represent global priorities—particularly among the world's most advanced economies—insights and expertise were shared by both domestic scholars and eminent scientists from 14 countries, including Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Slovakia, Montenegro, Germany, Slovenia, North Macedonia, Croatia, the Netherlands, Spain, Georgia, Bulgaria, and South Africa.T

he presented research primarily spans the natural, technical, biotechnical, and medical sciences, with a predominant focus on biomaterials. Virtually all contributions are grounded in multidisciplinary approaches to contemporary materials and their applications in science, technology, and industry. We now present this volume to the scientific, professional, and wider reading community for review and utilization, confident that its publication will contribute to societal development and the enhancement of the overall quality of life.
